building, college of aeronautics, shipping offices, a private hospital, and a 200,000 square meter commercial complex with private parking to attract dozens of international brands in food, banking and trade.
Yousef Al-Dhahri, KFIA director general, said: "The airport has possibilities that qualify it to attract various feasible investments supporting the economic position of the Eastern Province."
Al-Dhahri said that thanks to the location of KFIA, many successes have been achieved in the past five years, including the increase in passengers from 3.5 million in 1998 to 8.5 million in 2014. This figure is expected to reach 9.5 million passengers by the end of this year.
"There will also be an increase in the number of flights to 65 international and domestic destinations, with a rate of 1,500 flights weekly, instead of 850 trips," Al-Dhahri added.
KFIA is located 20 kilometers northwest of Dammam, and as part of larger marketing project named 'Golden Circle', several shops and services are due to open including indoor playgrounds and travel agencies. Source: arabnews
